PERIODIQUESTags : télévision numérique télévision connectée OTT fournisseur d'accès opérateurs satellite aspect technique aspect économique Index. décimale : 791.45 Télévision (Loisir) Résumé : "Présentation de l'éditeur :
"Despite the challenges posed by millennials’ viewing habits, non-linear viewing and the multiscreen video consumption, satellite operators have continued to defy the odds and prosper.
In this issue of Digital TV Europe, we focus on various ways that the satellite business is continuing to stay relevant.
We assess the current state of UHD TV – likely to drive demand for satellite bandwidth in mature markets – and look at some of the issues currently occupying the minds of those involved in developing services.
We look at how satellite operators are working with DTH pay TV providers and free-to-air broadcasters on ways to future-proof their services against the falling cost of OTT deliver and the challenge posed by multiscreen viewing of both on-demand and live content.
Finally, we look at the future of occasional use services, focusing in particular on preparations for the Rio Olympic Games.
Also in this issue, we look at some of the technologies that will be demonstrated at the forthcoming NAB Show in Las Vegas and provide our usual round-up of the top industry news."

But across the globe a significant proportion of TV households now receive their main free to air network TV channels through cable or direct broadcast satellite systems (and most recently through telecom/internet based delivery systems). These systems tend to be primarily focused on delivering pay TV services but have in the process become some household’s default method of reception for all TV services. Free to air networks have to agree access terms to these additional TV delivery systems – these arrangements are most often referred to as “re-transmission” terms.1
O&O analysis shows the UK has the least generous TV re-transmission terms for free to air networks when compared with a wide range of comparable developed world markets - including the USA. In all developed markets reviewed apart from the UK, platforms make some kind of contribution to broadcasters and/or content providers in return for re-transmission."

MEDIAS:AUDIOVISUEL: TELEVISION: Service PublicTags : télévision Angleterre satellite financement Résumé : "Sky's mission is to provide the best possible entertainment experience - a better choice of programmes combined with better ways to watch.
To achieve that goal, we make significant and growing investments in content and innovation across a wide range of genres, including sport, news, arts, drama, documentaries and comedy.
We expect to spend more than £2 billion on screen this year - more than ever before. Around two-thirds of that investment will be spent in the UK.
Our business is built on strong relationships with hundreds of other companies: partner channels; independent producers; outside broadcast contractors; technology providers and many more.
The results are not just good for our business and our 10 million customers. They're good for the wider creative industries, for the economy, and for Britain's diverse and vibrant cultural life.
